Public Artwork for the Red Willow Park West Meadowview Trail

The Red Willow West Meadowview Trail area is located on the north side of the Sturgeon river between Ray Gibbon Drive and MacMillan Park (Children’s Bridge), and includes the Grey Nuns White Spruce Park (Phase 1 - completed) and lands owned by the City all along the river corridor. Areas of installation will be within the new park area.

This project aims to include public art in the interpretive plan included in Phase 3 of the project. The interpretive plan project has commenced with the collection of historical, cultural and environmental information about the Grey Nuns White Spruce Park and Phase 2 trail area.

This is a multi-year project that extends over several kilometers and can include multiple public art installations throughout the park or integrated into park infrastructure.

The selected artist, Tiffany Shaw, through her Indigenous consulting firm, Reimagine Gathering, will design interactive public art that enhances shared pathways and natural spaces. The goal is to create meaningful experiences that connect trail users with the land, it's history and the communities that steward it. By transforming parks and trails into immersive learning environments, the project will invite visitors to reflect, discover and deepen their connection to nature while inspiring a shared commitment to protecting these vital spaces.
